Since my time as the lead singer of the original Quintessence during the late 1960's and early 1970's, I have developed a passionate and focused approach to writing music that addresses the relevant Geo-Political climate our global community is facing today. The music and message are seasoned with a bit of humor and satire, yet still maintain the general flavors of the original Quintessence (communal chanting and esoteric philosophical themes), hopefully inspiring us to transcend pervasive individual and political delusive fears and narrow mindsets, which often subliminally foster destructive agendas such as greed and aggression. I am optimistic that we can, as individuals and collectively, cure the dis-ease that is currently plaguing our Earth with positive thoughts and empowering actions. This music is my personal contribution to bringing more balance and harmony to our world.
One of the biggest differences since the old Quintessence band is the phenomenal talent that Rudra Beauvert brings to the music. Rudra is the consummate synth-whiz and techno-computer expert.

The first CD in this set consists of all new compositions. It covers a lot of ground - from themes of corporate greed and alien abductions to sending up the New Age/ Hollywood Guru circuit - always keeping the principle of self-discovery in mind.

The second CD contains new recordings of some of the most popular songs from the original Quintessence.
In some of these songs, Rudra and I have co-written and added new middle sections, chants, and instrumentation. Two of the songs (Hail Mary and Sun) were written for Quintessence, but never recorded.

One of the unique qualities of Quintessence was that it was a communal band - in the truest sense. Evolving out of the Ladbroke Grove/ Notting Hill area, we always had friends and locals singing on the albums and at gigs. Likewise, with Shiva's Quintessence, we had many friends, spiritual groups, and guest musicians (whom I met while touring the USA with my 'other' job as a sound vibrational therapist) participate on this album. Their combined talents and enthusiasm lend a heart opening and grass-roots feeling to the music.

For Rudra: Our band is called Shiva's Quintessence, but I must point out that it never would have happened without the relentless time - two solid years - and unwavering dedication you put into this project. Thank you mon ami!

And we mustn't forget Maha Dev, the only other original Quintessence band member to appear on this album. Nice one, Bro!

My exit from the original band was rather sudden and abrupt, and I never really had an opportunity to say "Good-bye." Now I'm saying, " Hi everybody! Just when we need another Quintessence, I'm back."
